The festival takes place from 11-13 MAY, 2012 @ The Labia Theatre – 68 Orange Street, Gardens, Cape Town

The most outrageous film festival on South African soil claws its way to the half decade mark, defying cinematic convention! Set to rip the screen to shreds at the X Fest’s resident home, The Labia Theatre (Orange Str., Cape Town), this year we’ll be pushing the boundaries of the expected norm in feature films, documentaries and short films and expand to cover ground like freestyle moto-cross, zombies, martial arts legends, forest demons, Viking religious exploration, the porn industry, apocalypse, psychos, ghosts, terrorists, Japanese Harakiri, experimental, myth, fantasy, and even musical inclusions.

The X Fest is the perfect antidote for commercial overload.

As usual, we’ll have plenty of give-aways, including WildFire piercing vouchers, amazing skull ring jewellery from TontoBrand, Monster Energy merch, and Phantom Sambuca specials etc.

MIND OF THE DEMON – The Larry Linkogle Story (brought to you by Monster Energy)

The award-winning documentary on the rise and fall of moto-cross luminary and madman Larry Linkogle is narrated by Lemmy from the timeless rock band Motorhead. The dark, analytical documentary gazes into the psyche of one of the most talented, yet aggressively self-destructive minds of his generation.

PUT UP YOUR DUX

You remember Bloodsport, one of the movies that put Jean-Claude Van Damme on the map? Well, this documentary looks at the life of Frank Dux, the martial arts expert who inspired the film. You’ll hear from the man himself, and journey through all the controversies that littered his life, from the ring, to courtroom drama with Van Damme, and rumours of involvement in undercover agencies…

ADVENTURES IN PORNOLAND

This is as real as fiction gets! Only a few of the filmmakers involved in this mockumetary were in on the secret. Journey with a Canadian director tries to make it in Hollywood. Struggling to find work, he takes a job in the porn industry to make a little money. He ends up more interested in the adult world than anybody thought he’d be, especially his fiancé. The film features real life porn stalwarts Ron Jeremy, Kimberly Kane & others.

X FLIX Short Film Collection

Another kick-ass anthology of short films from around the world, pushing the boundaries of what the viewer has come to expect. The collection includes:

RED LINES (a stay after school results in ghostly revelations. Featuring Doug Bradley aka Pinhead from Hellraiser)

THE VIKING SERPENT

Quite possibly one of the most amazing discoveries of all time, this documentary reveals an ancient and incredible legacy from the great Norwegian landscape, via renowned authors Philip Gardiner & Harald S. Boehlke.

THE DEFILED

In a post-apocalyptic world, science and technology have backfired leaving unfathomable destruction and a permanently diseased planet in its wake. A virus is mutating the human race, turning innocent survivors into mindless cannibals. A different take on zombies.

THE ROOT OF EVIL (LA RAIZ DEL MAL)

A village is attacked by demons from a nearby forest. The men are brutally murdered, and the women abducted and taken to the depths of the forest where they form part of a bloody ritual. A survivor must venture back into the madness, with dire consequences. A mad and bloody gorefest! (Spanish with English subtitles)

THE COLLAPSED

After the end of the world descends, a family of four desperately tries their best to survive the ever-present deadly dangers. After they flee into the forest, they soon discover that the other vicious and relentless survivors may be the least of their worries as the living nightmare closes in…
